EAST DEVELOPMENT PRECINCT PROJECT
1124. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the minister
representing the Minister for Local Government:
I refer to the community
consultation and information session on the East River Road extension, western
precinct, Denmark River Bridge project that will be hosted by the Shire of
Denmark on 25 October 2016.
(1) Is the
minister aware of concerns that the information session has been scheduled
eight days after the opening of the public comment period on the proposed
options for the Denmark River Bridge crossing point, effectively cutting short
the comment period, which closes on 14 November 2016?
(2) Given that
the community information session is specifically intended to inform people
about the importance of the project to Denmark's future, with shire
representatives, LandCorp and consultants in attendance to answer questions and
concerns, does the minister share these concerns?
(3) If yes to
(2), will the minister ask the council to extend the public submission period
to 30 November 2016 to provide for the normal six-week response period that
communities expect when significant developments are under consideration?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
