The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises:
The Commissioner of Police is the Hazard Management Agency for incidents involving nuclear powered warships and as such is responsible for initiating recovery actions as detailed in 'Westplan Nuclear Powered Warships'.
Western Australia Police are also the Hazard Management Agency for an emergency resulting from any deliberate act associated with a nuclear device.  The State Emergency Management arrangements for such an event are covered by Westplan Chemical, Biological and Radiological Agents and Nuclear Devices (CBRN).  Westplan CBRN, maintained by DFES, provides support to Westplan Terrorist Act.
Arrangements under the
Emergency Management Act 2005 (WA)
appoints the Commissioner of Police as the State Emergency Coordinator, responsible for the response to an emergency. Overall coordination of civil disaster relief (recovery) is the responsibility of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
