POLICE — OPERATION TIDE
462. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer the minister to Operation
Tide.
(1) How many personnel are currently
operating in Tide?
(2) Will the minister provide a breakdown of the
numbers according to areas of responsibility for those in ( 1); and, if
not, why not?
(3) Do any of those referred to in
(1) receive an additional allowance while being deployed in Tide?
(4) If yes to (3), what is the
quantum of the additional allowance?
(5) Are those
referred to in (1) permitted to engage in any secondary employment; and, if
not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police. The Western Australia Police Force advises the
following.
(1)–(2) There are 406 police officers and 39 police staff
allocated to Operation Tide. For operational reasons, more specific
information relating to staffing levels at individual business units is not
publicly released.
(3) No.
(4) Not applicable.
(5) All Operation Tide staff are vaccinated and those
undertaking airport and hotel quarantine duties are also subject to
regular COVID-19 testing. Police take a rigorous risk-based approach when
considering individual requests for secondary employment from officers attached
to Operation Tide.
