1) Yes. The Department of Education and Training has been in regular communication with the Government Regional Officers' Housing (GROH) regarding this matter. On the basis of feedback received from the school's principals over a period of time, the Department has requested GROH provide a four bedroom house and two, two bedroom units in Tammin.
2) The Department is aware that GROH encountered many issues in the tender process and as a result the project was significantly delayed.
a) The Department is aware that the principal is residing in a house owned by the shire.
b) Early this month it was brought to the Department's attention that maintenance issues with this property were taking a long time to resolve. This information was immediately referred to GROH, which has advised the Department that it has been in contact with the principal and has committed to rectifying outstanding maintenance requests as quickly as possible.
3) Yes. The Department has committed to paying the teacher a travel allowance in accordance with
The School Education Act Employees' (Teachers and Administrators) General Agreement 2006.
4) Yes. The Department has been advised by GROH that it has commenced the process to secure a lease on this property.
5) The Department currently has an outstanding request with GROH for an additional two, two bedroom units to be provided in Tammin. In March, the Department will request TamminPrimary School, as well as other regional schools, to confirm or modify outstanding requirements and/or submit additional housing needs for inclusion in the Department's submission to the 2008-09 GROH Capital works program. When GROH accepts an agency's request for additional housing the time taken for completion is directly dependent upon the availability of suitable land and the availability of builders. Both of these factors vary according to the fluctuations in property market forces.
