RESIGNATION
14. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Water:
I refer to the resignation of the
now ex-chairman of the Water Corporation, Mr Mike Hollett, two months after his
reappointment to that position.
(1) What contact
did the minister and/or his staff have with Mr Hollett and the CEO of the Water
Corporation, Mr Pat Donovan, in the weeks preceding Mr Hollett's
resignation?
(2) What contact
did the minister and/or his staff have with any other board member of the Water
Corporation in the weeks preceding Mr Hollett's resignation?
(3) When did the
minister become aware of Mr Hollett's resignation and how and by whom
was the minister advised?

I thank the member for the
question. The Minister for Water has provided the following information.
(1) From the
beginning of 2020 to Mr Hollett's resignation on 15 January 2020,
neither I nor my staff met with the CEO of Water Corporation, Mr Pat Donovan,
or Mr Hollett. My chief of staff had a number of telephone conversations with
Mr Donovan during this period.
(2) From the beginning of 2020 to Mr Hollett's
resignation on 15 January 2020, my chief of staff had a number of
telephone conversations with deputy chair David Lock on a number of issues.
(3) My chief of
staff advised me by telephone on 15 January 2020 that Mr Hollett had resigned.
