ELIZABETH QUAY — WATER PARK — WATER
TESTING
87. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the most recent testing
conducted by WA Health at BHP Billiton Water Park at Elizabeth Quay.
(1) Was testing undertaken after a request
from another government agency?
(2) When was
testing undertaken, when were the results finalised, will the Minister for
Health table those results; and, if not, why not?
(3) Which microorganisms were
detected specifically and at what specific levels in the water and pipes?
(4) When does WA Health expect to
approve the water park for reopening?
(5) When did WA Health approve the
water quality before the park opened on 29 January?

On behalf of the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health, I thank the honourable member
for some notice of this question.
(1) No.
(2) Samples were
taken on 18 February 2016. When the results are finalised, they will be tabled
in Parliament.
(3) Thermophilic Naegleria , a type of amoeba, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were detected. I table
the specified levels. [See paper 3852.]
(4) WA Health
will approve reopening following remedial action to remove contamination and
when the taking of further water samples and subsequent laboratory results show
that the bacterial contamination has been satisfactorily resolved.
(5) Approval was given at 3.00 pm on
29 January 2016.
