The Government's 'ecotourism strategy for WA' policy commits to pursuing or investigating a number of areas for World Heritage listing but these do not include the D'Entrecasteaux National Park. (3) & (4) The Government has committed to continue the process of nominating significant wetlands for inclusion on the Ramsar Convention list of Wetlands of International Importance. The process of identifying wetlands suitable for nomination is lengthy. It involves consideration of wetland values, Ramsar criteria, tenure, management, resource use and planning issues, stakeholder consultation and negotiation with the Federal Government. The Government expects to receive advice on possible future nominations from the Department of Conservation and Land Management during its current term. The Gingilup-Jasper Wetland System will be given consideration during that process.
