(2) The Western Australia Police Service statistics do not reflect electoral boundaries, but are based on Police Region, District and Sub-district boundaries. The locality of South Perth is part of the South East Metropolitan District, which has a police to population ratio of 1:787. (3) The system has been under some stress in part due to the former Government’s failure to recruit even 1 extra officer over the last four years. The Gallop Government will recruit 250 extra police officers over the next four years.
