(a-k) Civil and landscaping works for the site will be completed shortly, including public open space.
The 1909 Subi East site is a long-term urban redevelopment project which required the demolition of the former Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
A controlled deconstruction approach was required because many of the hospital buildings contained asbestos and other hazardous materials that could not be safely disturbed through rapid demolition.
The Cook Labor Government announced on 4 March 2026 the first residential lots released at 1909 Subi East. The two lots have a potential yield of around 300 dwellings, and once complete, the precinct will provide an estimated 1,000 dwellings across six lots.
Further announcements about the remaining lot releases will be made in due course.
As is standard industry practice, connection to services such as power and water is required prior to the titling of finished lots.
Subi East covers 35 hectares of land incorporating the area surrounding Subiaco Oval and the former PMH site. It is one of the most significant urban redevelopment projects being undertaken in Weste Australia and will bring up to 2,000 new homes to the inner-city area. The estimated yield of residential dwellings is informed by potential lot sizing and site zoning. The final dwelling numbers will reflect the private proponent s final design and built form outcomes.
