MEN'S
ADVISORY NETWORK
701. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
Noting that this week is Men's Health Week, noting
the very good work undertaken by the Men's Advisory Network—also
commonly referred to as MAN—and further noting the parliamentary
secretary's advice to the house yesterday about her pleasure about the
continued increase of funding to MAN since 2008–09, why did the Liberal–National
government provide that funding to MAN during the past seven financial years?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The Men's Advisory Network received funding through
the Department of Health to maintain and update a men's health issues
website; produce an electronic bi-monthly newsletter; maintain a database of
groups and individuals with an interest in men's health issues;
coordinate and promote activities in support of Men's Health Week in
WA; and coordinate a range of seminars, workshops or public lectures on men's
health issues.
I also refer to question without
notice 664 that the honourable member asked yesterday regarding the Men's
Advisory Network and apologise for not providing a verbal answer to parts (2)
and (3). The answer to both questions is nil.
