2. There are approximately 200 in-patients in designated mental health wards in the public hospitals in Western Australia who could be in supported community housing. This includes supported accommodation and in home support. The State Government's Mental Health Strategy 2004-2007 includes the following supported accommodation initiatives to address this demand: · The Community Supported Residential Units project will provide a total of 200 beds statewide. The locations are Albany, Armadale/Kelmscott, Bentley, Bunbury, Busselton, Geraldton, Kalamunda, Osborne Park, Peel and Stratton. · The Community Options project will provide a total of 30 beds in the metropolitan area including at locations in Mount Claremont, Kelmscott and Osborne Park. · The Supported Accommodation project for homeless people who have a mental illness will provide a total of 50 beds at East Perth and Fremantle. · The Intermediate Care facilities will provide a total of 50 beds for people with a mental illness at Joondalup and Peel.
