Residential battery scheme—Hybrid converter
1069. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Energy
and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
government's floundering WA residential battery scheme and to my questions
without notice 1043 and 1063 asked last Thursday 13 November on the slow
rollout and poor payment system.
(1) What is the average time taken by the
department between the registering of an application for a battery rebate and
the decision being made by the department?
(2) What is the average time between the decision
by the department and the payment of the rebate?
(3) Why is the state battery rebate payment taking
far longer to deliver than the federal rebate?
(4) Was the minister even aware of the details
before my question without notice last Thursday?
(5) Were the exact numbers of applications and
payments not used during yesterday's media conference by the minister and the
Premier because it would make it obvious where they came from?

AnswerView source ↗

It is not even a
Thursday, but I do thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(5) The average time between
application and approval is 2.8 days. Rebates are paid by the scheme
administrator within one to two business days following confirmation that the
battery has been installed in accordance with scheme requirements. That is
hardly a long time.
Hon Dr Steve Thomas interjected.
The President: Order! Thank you.
