(1)-(a) Recovery plans are prepared on a priority basis, according to the threat status assessed using World Conservation Union criteria and the recovery actions that are needed. The quokka is ranked as Vulnerable and is not as high a priority as species ranked as Critically Endangered or Endangered. Nevertheless, a recovery plan for the quokka is being prepared.
(2)-(a) Not applicable
(3) The quokka recovery plan is expected to be finalised in 2012, and will be implemented from the date of approval. Notwithstanding this, recovery actions for the quokka are currently underway using available knowledge.
(4) The Department of Environment and Conservation does not make a specific funding allocation to quokka recovery, however the department's Western Shield fox baiting program assists in protection of the species and its conservation needs are taken into account in fire management and in the management of habitat in conservation reserves and State forest.
The Rottnest Island Authority's management of Rottnest Island provides for the protection of quokkas.
(5) The Department of Environment and Conservation.
(6) Recovery plans are usually prepared for a 10-year period.
