CHILDREN — AFTER-HOURS CARE FACILITIES
What facilities, if any, are currently in place in Wiluna and Geraldton to care for children picked up by police after hours? Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY

AnswerView source ↗

The Department for Child Protection’s office in Geraldton is co-located with WA Police. In Wiluna, the department has an office directly across the street from the police station, ensuring a close relationship between the two agencies. Although there are no dedicated facilities for emergency accommodation in Wiluna, or any town or community of this size, the department will work with police to find family to take in children in emergencies. The department has a group home in Geraldton; and STAY, a non-government supported accommodation service for young people, also assists where appropriate.
