and amendments made by the
Children and Community Services Amendment (Reporting Sexual Abuse of Children) Act 2008
are due to be reviewed in 2012.
(2) The review of the
Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004
commenced in 2011 and is due to be completed in mid-2012.
(3)The review of the
Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004
has involved a review manager, a reference group, a public consultation period, which closed on 29 February
2012, as well as targeted consultation with key stakeholders.
It is proposed the review of the
Children and Community Services Act 2004
and
Children and Community Services Amendment (Reporting Sexual Abuse of Children) Act 2008
will use a similar approach. The review will examine the operation and effectiveness of these Acts.
(4)The review of the
Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004
is being conducted by Ms Leanne Guest, a senior officer in the Public Sector Commission. The review is supported by a small Reference Group of government and non-government representatives with relevant knowledge and expertise.
It is proposed that the review of the
Children and Community Services Act 2004
and
Children and Community Services Amendment (Reporting Sexual Abuse of Children) Act 2008
also be conducted by a senior public sector officer external to the Department, supported by a Legislative Review Reference Group consisting of relevant, senior Departmental for Child Protection officers and non-departmental stakeholders.
(5) It is intended the review of the
Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004
be completed by June 2012 and a report based on the review be tabled before each House of Parliament as soon as is practicable after the report has been prepared.
The review of the
Children and Community Services Act 2004
and the

must be tabled before each House of Parliament as soon as practicable after the review report is prepared, but in any event, no later than 1 January 2013.
