1243. Hon MARTIN PRITCHARD to
the Attorney General representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the Minister for Corrective Services'
response to question without notice 4553 in the other place and the
confirmation that David Volmer conducted an official visit with a prisoner at
Casuarina Prison.
(1) On what date did the visit occur?
(2) What was the prisoner's security classification?
(3) What offence had the prisoner committed resulting in his
incarceration?
(4) What was the purpose of the official visit?

On behalf of the Minister for
Corrective Services, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The Department of Corrective
Services advises as follows.
(1) The visit occurred on 5 May
2015.
(2) The security classification was
medium security.
(3) The offences
were five counts of indecently dealing with a child who is a lineal or de facto
relative and two counts of knowingly sexually penetrating a child who is a
lineal or de facto relative.
(4) Mr Volmer was
approved to visit all Western Australian prisons and could book official visits
with prisoners in the capacity of a spiritual and religious adviser.
