I refer to the number of social workers employed with South West (SW) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), noting that at June 2010 two social workers were employed, however this was subsequently cut back to one only, and ask —
(1) When did this occur and what was the reason for this cut, especially in light of the workload, wait times and the SW CAMHS business case calling for urgent additional resourcing?
(2) As at 1 September 2012, how many social workers were employed with SW CAMHS?

(1) There is currently 1 FTE Social Work position in South West Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). There are a number of generic positions within the CAMHS team that can be filled by a psychologist, social worker, nurse or occupational therapist. This is why the number of specific professions may have fluctuated over the past two years.
(2) As at 1 September 2012 there was 1 FTE dedicated Social Worker and 4.4 FTE Social Workers employed in a generic capacity in CAMHS in the South West.
