2. Data for the 2006-2007 financial year were used as calendar year 2007 HMDS data are not yet complete.
3. Includes the following:
a. Inter-hospital transfers of mental health patients from a designated Mental Health Unit requiring treatment for a non-mental heath condition (for example a surgical procedure).
b. Only transfers of public patients.
4. Mental health patients include persons with a primary mental health diagnosis or self-inflicted injury transferred from one metropolitan hospital to another with their record flagged as a transfer in the data collection systems. This includes patients transferred between the Emergency Department and other public metropolitan hospitals.
5. In relation to answer 321, it should be noted that not all these transfers will require a police escort and it is not possible to determine this information from the systems held in Department of Health.
