GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS — HUAWEI
663. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the telecommunications contract awarded to Huawei.
(1) Has the minister met with Huawei or its representatives
since becoming a minister?
(2) If yes to (1), on what date or dates did the minister
meet and what was discussed?
(3) Did the
minister or her office brief the Premier on the radio system replacement
project; and, if so, on what date or dates?
(4) Did the
minister or her office brief the Premier on any national security or other
concerns regarding Huawei, the radio system replacement project, the automatic
train control system and/or the public safety mobile broadband capacity; and,
if so, on what date or dates?

was briefed on the radio system replacement project as part of cabinet subcommittee
processes, most recently on 28 March 2018.
(4) The Public
Transport Authority worked closely with commonwealth security agencies with the
assistance of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet during the procurement
process for the radio system replacement project to identify and address any
cybersecurity issues arising.
