DB v the State of Western Australia
476. Ms Sandra Brewer to
the Treasurer:
I have a
supplementary question.
What is the expected
total cost to taxpayers, including damages and costs, for the failed state
defence in this case?

AnswerView source ↗

As I said, it is not
an answer that I can give. The opposition's grubby little attacks on this show
where it is in relation to—
Several members
interjected.
Ms Rita Saffioti: Let us go and see what happened in
the Leader of the Opposition's life 30 years ago.
Several members
interjected.
Ms Rita Saffioti: Does the Leader of the Opposition
really want to go back 30 years?
Several members
interjected.
Mr Basil Zempilas: It is about the cost.
Ms Rita Saffioti: Do
you really want to go back 30 years?
Point of order
Mr Liam Staltari: Mr Speaker, again, several times throughout
the last sitting, we have had the Treasurer directing remarks at members and
not through the Chair, repeatedly ignoring your directions.
The Speaker: Thank you, member for Carine. I will not uphold
that point of order. The Treasurer has been conducting the majority of her
commentary through the Chair in her contribution.
Questions without notice resumed
Ms Rita Saffioti: Thank you, Mr Speaker.
I will ask through you,
Mr Speaker: Does the Leader of the Opposition want to go through what happened 30
years ago for all members of Parliament?
In relation to the
member's question, as I said, she should direct it to the Attorney General, as
the question was asked through that portfolio in the upper house yesterday.
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe!
Ms Rita Saffioti: The opposition asked a question to
the Attorney General's portfolio in the upper house yesterday, then it comes in
and asks another minister the same question. If that does not tell you that
they have no idea what they are doing, nothing does.
