The Department of Housing and Works advises
The State Government is committed to providing more affordable, low-cost housing options including more social housing, assistance for private renters and affordable home ownership opportunities. At least 1,124 extra social housing properties are being delivered; bond assistance has been increased and the innovative shared equity scheme First Start introduced. The State Government is also working with the Federal Labor Government on a range of initiatives many of which seek to boost low-cost housing supply to enhance the State's initiatives and improve housing affordability.
1) 1,181 as at 30 April 2008, including community housing and public housing.
2) 2,650 as at 30 April 2008, including community housing and public housing.
3) At least 1,118 as at 30 April 2008 with the tenancy management of a further twenty properties being provided externally and eleven properties in the process of being reallocated.
4) 2,231 as at 30 April 2008, including community housing and public housing.
5) 455 as at 30 April 2008.
6) 1,102 as at 30 April 2008.
7) 17,046 as at 30 April 2008.
