KALBARRI — ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
369. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
Leader of the House representing the Minister for Energy:
I ask this question without notice on behalf of Hon Darren West who is away on urgent
parliamentary business. It is C366.
I refer to the
letter from Western Power to Kalbarri residents printed in The Geraldton Guardian on Monday, 24 March.
(1) Will the
emergency high-voltage generator transferred to Kalbarri remain in the town permanently
to assist with any future power outages experienced?
(2) If no to
(1), given the importance of tourism to the town, will the minister commit to
retaining the generator in Kalbarri until at least the end of April to ensure
that any power outage does not result in businesses needing to close over the
Easter and school holiday breaks?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) No.
(2) The
generator currently in Kalbarri is an emergency-response generator which is
used across the Western Power network. Western Power will continue to manage
its generators to minimise impact to customers if asset failure occurs.
