Driving Access and Equity Program
458. Hon Dr Brian Walker to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Treasurer:
I refer the
Treasurer to her budget announcement last week in which she allocated $36 million
in the coming financial year for the Driving Access and Equity Program. I
welcome that announcement.
(1) What portion of these funds will be
invested in allowing medicinal cannabis patients to drive while unimpaired upon
our roads?
(2) If the answer to (1) is zero, when
will she and her colleagues in cabinet start to treat all residents of Western
Australia with the same degree of equity and amend our broken and
discriminatory driving laws?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Treasurer.
(1)–(2) The Driving Access and Equity Program
supports almost 8,000 disadvantaged participants to obtain a driver's licence
by improving access to supervised driving, driver education, trained
instructors, safer ANCAP rated vehicles and culturally safe services.
