MANNA INC — MEETING WITH MINISTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH
I refer to Manna Inc, which was recently awarded the Gold Swan Award at the WA Citizen of the Year Awards. (1) Is the minister aware that people from Manna Inc have been seeking a meeting with her for some time now and that her office has said that she is not available for at least six months? (2) Given that in one year Manna Inc served 53 000 meals to Perth’s homeless, including many people with a mental illness, and does many other good works, will the minister agree to meet with Manna Inc and talk about its needs and the good work it does in the community? Hon HELEN MORTON

I thank the honourable member for the question. (1)–(2) I am obviously also aware of the fantastic work that Manna Inc does. I have had some early discussions with Manna Inc about its services. I am not sure whether it was with the husband-and-wife team that operates Manna Inc. I can hardly believe that it takes six months to get an appointment to see me. I make it clear to anybody that I am available. I will therefore ensure that I speak to them before that time. I would also like to applaud the work that they do in the community and the selfless work that they have provided over the years to many homeless people, including people with a mental illness. They are just fantastic recipients of that award.
