COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM PROGRAM
403. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I think I know the answer to this,
but I will ask it anyway. I refer to the countering violent extremism program,
jointly operated by the Western Australia Police Force and the Department of
Education, which the education department has confirmed that the 16-year-old
boy who was shot dead by police after stabbing a man in Willetton this week was
enrolled in.
(1) What is the status and/or rank
of the person or persons who conduct this program?
(2) At what age do students leave
the program?
(3) Was the 16-year-old involved in this week's
incident meeting all the mandated requirements of the program?
(4) What protocols are in place for
students who fail to meet the mandated requirements of the program?

I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question. The Minister for Police has provided the
following answer.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises that due to operational sensitivities and the impact on this voluntary
program it is not possible to provide a response.
