NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME — TRIAL SITES —COMBINED
APPLICATION PROCESS
1344. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I refer to the final combined
application process round for disability funding for people outside National Disability
Insurance Scheme trial sites.
(1) How many applications have been
received?
(2) How many of the applications
received will be funded?
(3) What is the total value of
funding and the average funding amount per applicant?
(4) What
alternatives and safeguards are proposed for applicants whose CAP applications
are denied in this final round of CAP and who are in critical situations?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) A total of 684 applications have
been received, of which 144 are new applications.
(2) This will be determined
following assessment by the CAP independent priority assessment panel.
(3) The total
funding is $3 million. The average amount per applicant will be known only once
applicants are assessed, with prioritisation of applicants' needs.
(4) Although it
has been the case in all years since the commencement of the combined
application process that the demand for funding will exceed available
resources, people with disability can engage with a local coordinator to
identify and respond to immediate requirements and undertake a planning process
to implement a longer-term sustainable arrangement.
