With reference to the establishment of the Burrup Rock Art Monitoring Committee. At the National Trust Rock Art Forum on Monday, April 7 2003 the Government spokesperson at that meeting considered that the Government thinks it has found a balance between heritage protection and industrial development -
(1) Does the Minister consider that there is such a balance in the commitment of $136 000 000 as a subsidy for industry to develop on the Burrup and the $350 000 allocated for the Burrup Rock Art Monitoring Committee to look into the impacts of industry on the rock art?
(2) If yes to (1), how?
(3) If no to (1), what will the Minister do to ensure that the view of his colleague, that a balance exists, is justified?

1. The Hon Member would be well aware that the comments at the Forum referred to the sensible balance between heritage protection and development achieved through more than a decade of careful planning. The budget allocations are entirely appropriate for the tasks at hand and will be subject to review. 2. N.A. 3. N.A.
