NET ZERO EMISSIONS —
PREMIER'S COMMENTS
1380. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the Premier's
comments on WAtoday on Tuesday, in which he stated that the environmental
movement has endorsed the government's aspiration of net zero emissions
by 2050.
(1) Which
individuals or organisations from the environmental movement endorsed the final
aspiration?
(2) Which individuals or organisations from the
environmental movement did not endorse the final aspiration?
(3) Given that
the Conservation Council of Western Australia's response to the
aspiration called for the McGowan government
to ''urgently set out an emissions reduction pathway for the state,
which must be put into legislation'',
has the Premier taken steps to implement this part of the CCWA's
supposed endorsement?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) I
refer the honourable member to the media release by the Conservation Council of
Western Australia in which Piers Verstegen said, ''We welcome this
target''.
