DEFENCE INDUSTRY — AUKUS — INFRASTRUCTURE
782. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
When will the government commence engagement with the federal department of
infrastructure around the infrastructure needs involved in the AUKUS development
in the south of the city?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please.

The key engagement is with the
Department of Defence. It undertakes the work, particularly at HMAS Stirling ,
and will undertake the work that we will see commence at the defence
construction precinct at Henderson. It is the key
to these discussions. There will be some infrastructure demands beyond that,
but these go to broader discussions that we have around infrastructure.
That will primarily be a conversation that takes place between myself and Infrastructure Australia, and, of course,
Infrastructure Western Australia will be involved in those deliberations as well.
I
just want the member to appreciate that we are talking to the department that
will make this happen, which includes their minister, the Deputy Prime
Minister and the Department of Defence and the whole AUKUS architecture, which
has been established over this project to make sure that it takes place.
