(2) The Office of Energy does not have the power to ensure the hydro-power potential of Wellington Dam, or any other dam, is utilised. The Sustainable Energy Development Office runs a number of programs to encourage the increased use of renewable energy. Potential operators could also ascertain if there was any scope for creating Renewable Energy Certificates under the Commonwealth Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) legislation.
