I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) In 2014–15
there have been two rounds of the combined application process. In the first
round, 787 people applied, and 616 of those people carried over their
applications into the second round, in addition to the 164 people who made new
applications. In total, 951 people have applied through the combined
application process in 2014–15.
(2) Of the
total 951 applicants, around 30 per cent were considered not to be in need of
immediate support. Of the remaining 670 or so applications, 410 received
support through the combined application process. The majority of the remainder
received support via alternative, more decentralised mechanisms for allocating
funding to people with disability requiring support. These include community
living, family living, individualised funding for school leavers, and local
area resource funding. These decentralised mechanisms allow for more timely and
targeted responses to address support requirements.
(3) The state budget for 2015–16 will be announced in
May 2015.
(4) The
majority of unsuccessful applicants are in receipt of a range of funding and
support through other sources, including the family living initiative, the
community living initiative, school leavers funding, post-school options, the
community aids and equipment program and disability professional services. In
2014–15 the budget committed to the key support services totalled
approximately $798 million, including $25.2 million in growth funding provided
by the government in the 2014–15 budget.
