I have asked the Minister for Education and Training a number of questions relating to the proposed $35 million in savings that the Government has identified in the amalgamation of the Departments of Education and Training. The minister states he does not have access to the information required to answer my questions and suggests the Premier will be able to answer my questions. (1) What methodology was used by Michael Costello’s task force to determine the savings of $35 million? (2) It was stated in the minister’s earlier response that the savings were identified by the Functional Review Taskforce. Will details be provided on how those figures were derived? (3) Will the documents showing how the savings are to be made be tabled; and, if not, why not? (4) Will the Premier inform the Minister for Education and Training how and where the $35 million will be saved in order to assist him in answering questions in Parliament; and, if not, why not? Hon KIM CHANCE
