Following consideration by the previous Government in April 2000, the Department of Fisheries, CALM and the Tourism Commission had discussions with the proponents and identified strategies for providing baseline fishery and environmental assessment data and ongoing monitoring, compliance and community education. Discussions included consideration of the need for an increased fisheries and CALM presence, research and monitoring requirements and accommodation and boat mooring facilities for both Departments. The precise quantum, source and nature of funding to meet these requirements was not identified. All discussions were subject to consideration and assessment of the development proposal by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Authority. No further discussions have been had on this issue. (2) Not applicable (3) Not applicable
