(1) What is the current size of the Western Australian workforce?
(2) What percentage of the Western Australian workforce is covered by -
(a) Federal Awards and Enterprise Agreements;

The Minister Replied:
(1) 930 800 persons - September 2000.
(2) The data requested is not available for any Australian State or Territory. The Australian Bureau of Statistics is however conducting a survey. Findings are due for release during the first quarter of 2001.
For Western Australian public sector employees the relevant percentages are:
(a) Federal Awards (0.38%) / Federal Certified Agreements (32.81%);
(b) Australian Workplace Agreements (0.31%);
(c) State Awards (3.38%) / State Industrial Agreements (41.10%);
(d) State Workplace Agreements (21.93%); and
(e) Common Law Contracts (Not available).
