JUDGES’ SALARIES AND PENSIONS
Hon Ken Travers does not ask many questions, but when he does he gets very excited! My question is to the minister representing the Minister for Government Enterprises. How many - (a) former judges; and (b) spouses and de facto partners of judges are recipients of a pension under the Judges’ Salaries and Pensions Act 1950, and what is the aggregate value of those pensions on an annual basis? I thank the member for some notice of this question. (a) Thirty-four former judges currently receive a pension under the Judges’ Salaries and Pensions Act 1950. The aggregate value of those pensions on an annual basis is $6 036 284. (b) Six spouse pensions are currently being paid under the Judges’ Salaries and Pensions Act 1950. The aggregate value of spouse pensions on an annual basis is $539 203.
