(1) The outer harbour development at Port Hedland is currently at a conceptual stage only. The Port Hedland Port Authority, in conjunction with BHP Billiton, has initiated a number of preliminary studies to confirm or otherwise, the first order commercial and operational feasibility of the outer harbour proposal. Once all the preliminary studies are completed and subject to the project proving feasible, more detailed studies, including conceptual design, will be progressed. On completion of those studies, the formal processes required for environmental, funding and other necessary approvals will be initiated. While timeline details are uncertain at this stage, the proposal is being progressed in a timely manner.
