(1) There are currently 24 General Practitioners working in Albany. Additionally, there are 5 General Practitioner registrars (who undertake the same work as General Practitioners) working in Albany.
(2) Yes.
(a) The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) will be increasing the capacity of the medical workforce in Albany in 2008/09.
The WACHS are currently advertising for a Director of Critical Care, an additional surgeon and an anaesthetist.
There is one junior doctor training in the community to become a General Practitioner under the Prevocational General Practice Program. This program is run by WA General Practice Education and Training and the Rural Clinical School.
