I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) A project
working group was formed consisting of representatives of the City of Stirling,
the City of Vincent, Main Roads WA, WA Police and the Public Transport
Authority, and the member for Mount Lawley and the Minister for Transport, to
identify safety issues and possible solutions to address any issues identified.
Representatives agreed to an extension of the 40 kilometres-an-hour variable
speed limit; a full-time right turn ban on all legs at the intersection;
removal of the fully protected pedestrian crossing and installation of a
parallel pedestrian crossing, subject to full-time right turn bans; and
relocation of the bus stop on Beaufort Street to the departure side of the
intersection. Given that these are local government roads, it is the respective
local government's responsibility to pursue the works required.
(2) The advice was provided in March
2012.
(3) No cost estimate was provided.
