AUSTRALIAN ENERGY MARKET
OPERATOR —INDIVIDUAL RESERVE CAPACITY REQUIREMENT
952. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the application of the
Australian Energy Market Operator's demand for capacity—the
individual reserve capacity requirement—for individual retailers.
(1) On 18 February 2024, what
percentage of the market share was apportioned to Synergy?
(2) On 18
February 2024, what was the cost to Synergy for each share of the peak demand
reserve capacity mechanism as at the total cost to Synergy for the day?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Synergy's
participant capacity share for February 2024 was 70.6 per cent. This applies to
shared reserve capacity costs. Synergy's charges for the reserve
capacity mechanism are not based upon an individual trading interval or trading day but rather consideration of its customer
demand during peak demand intervals in the previous year.
