BANKSIA HILL DETENTION CENTRE — YOUTH CONVICTIONS AND STAFF
ASSAULTS
1036. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the detainees of Banksia
Hill Detention Centre.
(1) What is total number of
convictions of the youths currently detained in Banksia Hill for —
(a) assault;
(b) sexual assault;
(c) robbery;
(d) stealing of a motor vehicle;
(e) dwelling burglary; and
(f) stealing?
(2) On how
many occasions have Banksia Hill custodial staff have been assaulted by
detainees in 2023 and 2024 to date?
(3) On how
many occasions have Banksia Hill custodial staff been threatened with assault
by detainees in 2023 and 2024 to date?
(4) How many
custodial staff have required medical attention, been hospitalised or required
to take time off from work duties following assaults or threats of assaults in
2023 and 2024 to date?
(5) How many charges have been laid against detainees in
relation to parts (2), (3) and (4)?
