the minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to BHP Billiton constructing its business feasibility
on a carbon price ranging between $25 and $40 per tonne.
(1) What advice
has the Minister for Environment's department given him on the impact
of a carbon price of $25 to $40 per tonne?
(2) What advice have
the minister's agencies given him on actions required to reduce carbon
pollution in Western Australia?

It is the state government's view that the development of mitigation
policies will most appropriately occur at the national level. Design and
implementation of measures to limit greenhouse gas emissions, including support
for new low-emission technology, are the responsibility of the Australian
government and the federal Parliament.
