(2) (a) The Disability Services Act (1993) review was undertaken as part of the review of statutory authorities resulting from the Government Structures for Better Results report (released in June 2001). A review of the Act was also required in 2003 under section 57 (1) (b) of the Act. This review was brought forward to coincide with the review of statutory authorities. This will minimise the review costs. Membership of this review consisted of James Thom, Barry MacKinnon, Ruth Shean, Debbie Karasinski, Dr Phillip Deschamp, Mallika Macleod, Ben Sgherza and Sue Ellery (Chair). In addition, there were three subcommittees established to deal with specific aspects of the Disability Services Act.
