I refer to Question on Notice 6247 and the funding provided by the New Industries Fund to Innovation Hubs for the three financial years 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20, and ask: (a) for each of the financial years, what amount of funding went to regional innovation hubs and what amount went to metropolitan hubs; (b) which innovation hubs received funding in each of the financial years and how much; (c) what was the selection criteria for funding to be allocated to each of the Innovation Hubs; (d) what performance obligations were each Innovation Hub required to meet to receive funding; and (e) were these performance obligations monitored and assessed by the State and if so, did the Minister receive a report by the Department advising him of the outcomes of each funding allocation: (i) if the Minister did receive such a report will the Minister release it to Parliament; and (ii) if the Minister did not receive a report can the Minister advise if the funding for each Innovation Hub achieved the objective being sought and that their obligations were met?

(c) Selection criteria are as follows:
The metropolitan innovation hubs underpin the State economy and were selected on the basis of their sector’s critical mass, competitive advantage, ability to leverage Australian Government and other partner funding, opportunities for growth and potential to create jobs, and ability to identify and support emerging technologies to diversify the economy.
These innovation hubs also deliver programs, projects and other initiatives across the State’s regions.
(d) Performance obligations as follows:
As described in the formal agreement the State has with each established metropolitan hub’s lead university and/or industry growth centre.
(e) The metropolitan innovation hubs’ performance obligations are monitored and assessed by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and reports are provided to me on a regular basis.
