(1) What constraints are placed on tenants of Homeswest properties on the type and quantity of plants grown on those properties? (2) If there are no constraints, does the minister believe that he might have reason to review that policy in the near future? Hon TOM STEPHENS

(1)-(2) From time to time restraints are placed on tenants whose trees and shrubs overshadow neighbours’ properties. Some members of the House will be familiar with disputes that have involved Homeswest tenants whose trees and shrubbery grew to such an extent that it caused a discomfort to neighbours. In those circumstances, a restraint is applied. Hon Ray Halligan: The question was on the type and quantity of plants. Hon TOM STEPHENS: A Homeswest tenant cannot allow his trees to become large and cause offence to neighbours, unless he has the agreement of the neighbour. From time to time members have been involved in bringing issues like this to resolution - Hon Derrick Tomlinson: And had very good cooperation from the minister. Hon TOM STEPHENS: Thank you very much.
