MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PLAN
282. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to
the 10-year mental health services plan.
(1) What is
the status of the 10-year mental health services plan?
(2) When
will the plan be completed and publically released for review?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The 10-year mental
health services plan is well underway. It was intended to be available around
about April this year. However, as the member is aware, we have had a change of
commissioner in the Mental Health Commission. Consequently, I have given
permission or whatever for it to extend out until the middle of this year. As
the member will be aware, the new Mental Health Commissioner started when he
lodged his question, which was this week. One of the commissioner's top
priorities will be to oversee the delivery of the mental health services plan.
It is anticipated the plan will be completed by mid-2014 and considered by
government before being released publicly.
