CHILD DEVELOPMENT
SERVICE — OPENING HOURS
882. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the answer provided to
supplementary question C4 asked during the 2024–25 budget estimates
hearing with the Department of Health, which indicates that Saturday opening
hours have been implemented on an ongoing basis at the Joondalup and Rockingham
child development service sites from 29 June 2024.
(1) Can the
minister explain why Saturday opening hours have not continued at the Gosnells
CDS site, which was part of the trial in the 2023–24 financial year?
(2) Does the department have plans
to expand Saturday opening hours to other sites?
(3) If yes to (2), what is the expected timeframe for
other sites to open on Saturdays and which sites are being considered?
(4) If no to (2), why not?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Health.
(1)–(4) As
part of the transition from the pilot phase, an expression of interest process
was undertaken to identify a site that had an appropriate workforce to operate
on Saturdays. The child development service will continue to seek to expand the
number of sites open on a Saturday, subject to workforce availability.
