(a)
The Department of Education is working with each student and family affected by the closure to plan the best possible transition focussed on continuing the students’ current studies and future plans. Families of students who incur additional costs as a result of moving schools will have these costs reimbursed. This includes the cost of new school uniforms, new books where students change subjects studied, and any additional travel costs parents incur. Families who travel to visit potential alternative schools as part of their decision-making process will also be reimbursed for the travel costs.
(b)
The Department of Education is currently developing an estimate for additional costs incurred by families affected by the closure of Moora Residential College. Until the future schooling plans of all students at Moora Residential College are finalised, an expected cost is purely hypothetical.
(c)
Families of current students in Years 7 to 11 at the residential college have been contacted by telephone. Each family is receiving individual case management to ensure their needs are met throughout this transition.
(d)
Extensions and/or variations to existing bus routes are currently being considered. This includes buses to Yanchep Secondary College and also buses that currently service Central Midlands Senior High School. The expected cost of any future changes has not yet been determined.
