I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) The children’s services officer from the Department for Community Development’s Mandurah office has been available at the child-care centre each day since Monday, 7 April 2003.  The officer has ensured an appropriate program is being provided to the children and is offering support to staff and parents.  Staff from child-care licensing have visited the centre each day since and including Monday, 7 April 2003 to ensure compliance with the regulations. The children’s services officer has provided the owner with information on child development and has provided ongoing support to both the owner and staff.  In the past 12 months the children’s services officer has provided workshops for staff on supervision, child development and communicating effectively with children. On 11 March 2003 a complaint was made to the child-care licensing unit that the centre was understaffed.  A licensing visit was conducted and the centre was found to be incorrectly staffed.  The child-care services board today considered written information received earlier today about inappropriate behaviour by the owners of the centre in relation to children in their care.  The child-care licensing unit will be investigating those concerns to ascertain whether there have been any breaches and to provide advice to the child-care services board as a priority. The final question is not applicable as the child-care services board is considering the matter.
