To answer the question to the level of detail outlined by the Member would require the Public Transport Authority (PTA) to divert a substantial amount of resources away from its operational commitments.
When the Contaminated Sites Act 2003 was introduced in 2006, the PTA undertook a full review to identify and report contaminated or suspected contaminated sites to the Department of Environment and Conservation, now the Department of Environment Regulation (DER) is meeting its obligations under AASB 137 and the Accounting Policy Guideline 1 - Accounting for Contaminated Sites, issued by the Department of Treasury on the 26 July 2011.
The PTA had 94 contaminated sites as of 30 June 2014. Most of the PTA's contaminated sites have been classified as "potentially contaminated - investigation required" or have been reported to the DER but not yet classified.
The PTA has an annual budget for the investigation, remediation and monitoring of contaminated sites with $4.2 million spent in 2013/14. The PTA has reported all of its known contaminated sites to the DER.
