I refer to question on notice No. 3554 asked on 20 October 2015, and question on notice No. 2123 asked on 23 October 2014, regarding the average cost of accommodation support when it is provided by the Disability Services Commission, and I ask, in answer to the question what is the average cost per service activity and the average cost per service user for accommodation, in 2014 the answer provided was $169,310.74 and $177,493.04 respectively, but in 2015 the answer to the same question was $215,359 and $227,182.35 respectively. What is the reason for the significant increase in the cost of this service?

A re-analysis of the costs for accommodation support provided by the Disability Services Commission for 2013-14 found that the actual cost per service activity was $211,998 and the actual cost per service users was $222,243.  The original answer provided by the Disability Services Commission were costs for the whole disability sector and not specifically for the services provided by the Commission. The actual increase in costs from 2014 to 2015 can be attributed to indexation and cost escalation.
